Happy Mother’s Day

Happiest of Mother’s Days to you.

May this day be a day of gratitude.

That you revel in the wonder that is your family.

Their laughter.  Their learning.  Their silly songs and goofy phrases.

The way your daughter jumps into your bed each morning to wake you up (yes, even today)

The way your son wants only you to carry him up to bed each night.

May this day be a day of peace.

That you get to take a nap, a bath, spend the day in your jammies, let the laundry slide, delegate the dishes.

That the little ones bring you handpicked flowers and manage somehow not to fight with each other.

That you know in your heart how much you are loved and that you family knows in theirs how much you love them.

That you can move slowly, enjoying the here and now.

May this day be a day of connection.

That you recognize all the specialness in you and celebrate how much you shine.

That you delight in your place in the long line of mothers that have come before, sharing their wisdom, laughter and tears.

That you stand tall in you place at the head of the line of mothers yet to come, lighting the way with your wisdom, laugher and tears.

That you honor that place within you that knows–knows how to scare away monsters, kiss boo boos, and how to rain down showers of silver sparkles of love and encouragement on those you love.

But most of all, may this be a day of joy.

That you spend the day with those you love, doing what you love.
